Plan with a therapist
Two visits, written down
The first visit is for looking and measuring. The second is for the work. A written plan sits between them.
Step 1: Visit one: the plan
We come to the house with your occupational therapist, or with Patrice Eason if you don't have one. We ask you to show us how you use the bathroom now, then measure with your own walker, cane or chair in the room.
We look at the floor, the walls and where the drain runs.
We note what you reach for and where you sit.
Nothing is opened up, and you pay nothing for work until you agree to the plan.
Step 2: The written plan
A few days later you get a plan and a price, by text, email or on paper. It is written for a family member, a therapist or a program office to read on their own.
Measurements, fixtures and the height of each bar.
What is in the price and what is not.
How many days the work should take.
Step 3: Visit two: the work
The same people come on the day the plan names. We protect the floor from the front door in, do the plumbing and the install, and clean up. Before we leave, we go through every handle, the hand shower and each bar with you.
Your therapist or a family member can be there.
If something behind the wall changes the job, we stop and write down the change first.
Before visit one
What helps us most
Your therapist's notes
If you have an occupational therapist, ask them to send notes or come along. We follow them.
What is hard today
Stepping over the tub, standing for long, getting up from the toilet. Say it in your own words.
What you use
A walker, a cane, a wheelchair or a shower chair. We measure with it, so have it in the room.
Who comes
Patrice Eason, occupational therapist
Patrice runs her own practice and works with us on request. If you already have a therapist, we work from theirs.
She joins the first visit, looks at how you move through the room and writes down what the bathroom should allow. Her fee is her own, set by her practice, and separate from our price.
Ask for a first visit
Tell us who the bathroom is for and when a weekday works.
