Questions
Questions we are asked
Who comes to the first visit?
Someone from our crew, and your occupational therapist if you have one. If you don't, our partner Patrice Eason can come; her practice is separate from ours and bills for her own time. A family member or caregiver is welcome at either visit.
Do you work without a therapist?
Yes. A therapist's notes make the plan sharper, but the plan can also come from you and your family: what is hard today, what you use to get around, and what you would like to be able to do. We measure with your walker, cane or chair in the room.
What does a tub-to-shower conversion involve?
The tub comes out, the drain and valve are redone, wood blocking goes into the walls where bars can go, and a low-step or no-step shower goes in. The written plan names each of those, plus the floor and wall finish and who does them.
How long does the work take?
It depends on what is behind the tub and whether the drain moves. The written plan says how many days we expect, and we tell you before work starts if that changes.
Will I get a price before you start?
Yes, in writing, after the first visit. It is a fixed price for the work in the plan. If something behind the wall changes the job, we stop, show you, and write down the change before going on.
What does the first visit cost?
The first visit has a fee, and we say what it is on the phone. If you go ahead with the plan, the fee comes off the price of the work. See how pricing works for what a price covers and what it leaves out.
What does a grab-bar install include?
Wood blocking inside the wall at the heights the plan names, the bar itself, and a check that it holds before we leave. Bars are fixed into that blocking, not into drywall anchors.
Do you bill Medicare, insurance or a waiver program?
We don't bill them. If a program pays for part of the work, ask the agency what paperwork it needs; we will give you the written plan and price, and fill in a form that asks for them.
Do you pull permits?
Yes, when the work needs one. Permit fees are listed on their own line in the price.
Do you take emergency calls?
No. We work weekdays by appointment. If water is running now, shut off the main valve and call a plumber who works nights.
Can I text a photo of the bathroom?
Yes. Text (937) 555-0100 a photo of the tub, the toilet and the doorway. It helps us bring the right measuring tools. Texts are answered on weekdays during office hours.
Is my house a problem for a walk-in shower?
Often not. Slab floors, crawl spaces and second-floor bathrooms each change where the drain can go, and we look at that at the first visit before promising a no-step shower.
Where do you work?
Dayton and the towns around it, listed on the contact page. We are open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Your question is not here?
